Hi folks,this yr migratory waterfowls are very less at gajoldoba and it
is due to lac of water. Actually the main barrage is closed for some
renovation work....so the much less birds are scattered at nearby reservoirs. here are few of them flying in evening light.Jalpaiguri,13-

[BirdPhotoIndia] Is it a Brown Fish Owl or a Great Horned owl?

Hi

Last Saturday (12th December'10) I visited CKBS. I reached around 4 pm. Because of cloudy weather it was dusky inside CKBS.
Apart from few common known birds, I spotted a large size ghostly bird. I spotted the bird when I was returning.
Various other birds like drongo, red vented bulbul, jungle bablar were disturbed and they were trying this ghostly bird to leave. Once it moved from one branch to another, then I saw its huge flapping wings. I took three four snaps of it but all are in the dark. Still I am uploading it here if experts can comment on it.

Here is the Southern Brahmaputra race of the Chestnut-crowned Laughing Thrush from Khonoma, Nagaland. Of the three races of CCLT in India this one is conspicuous by its grey forehead / brow and dark chestnut throat.

I went to Lodi Gardens last week to search for Red Collared Doves that arrive around this time. Couldn't find them but got these-White Throated Kingfisher and Alexandrine Parakeet.

(delhibirdpix) The Migratory Waterfowls - # 14 - Ferruginous Pochard (Aythya nyroca) - 2010-305

Have been seeing FErruginous Pochards in ones or two or max fours but
not in the numbers that are present these days at Dadri Wetlands.
Should be over twenty.

Taken on 12th December.

Got eleven in one of the frames but the image is no good. Let us be
happy with 8 in one frame.
