(delhibirdpix) Hooded Pitta- Pitta sordida-Adult. Corbett National Park. India

Species:     Hooded Pitta- Pitta sordida-Adult.

Date:         26th June, 2012
Location:  Jim Corbett National Park. (Alt. 400m)  Uttrakhand, India.
Habitat:     Under growth in mixed evergreen forest, close to a creek.
Remarks:   It was reported to be a breading visitor here at the park (monsoon time). The wait of months to appreciate this colorful and shy bird was rewarded to our hearts content. They were very vocal and territorial after squalls or in overcast conditions. Saw glimpses of them going hop, hop, hop, in the undergrowth and calling away atop branches after the noon showers.

Merry birding,
Gunjan
