(delhibirdpix) Common Black Hawk (?) !!

Hi,

Yesterday , while I  walking on a  road in Central Delhi, near India  Gate, saw  a  majestic  raptor, which is
possibly a Common Black Hawk. Really a great  moment  to  see it . Being  harassed by  crows, it perched on a  Neem tree for  few  minutes.

Unfortunately, I was not having my  cam , not even  my  Cell phone , so borrowed a phone  from somebody else and  took some  record shots  through that. But  surely  this  shall be  a  new  record for Delhi.

White Tail band  clearly  visible  while  it flew.

Please  confirm  the ID  if  you can make  out from the pics. I suppose pics  are that much , so  as to make  out the ID.

Cheers,

Jitender

(delhibirdpix) Tits - Uttarkhand - I

- Black-throated Tit seen multiple times at different places
- Spot-winged Tit, at various points on the Chopta-Tungnath trek, and at
Baniyakund en route to Mukku farm
- Yellow-browed Tit, seen mainly at Tungnath and Baniyakund
Also saw the Rufous-vented and Grey-crested Tits at Tungnath a couple of times, but even the record shots are not worth posting. We probably also saw the Rufous-naped, which is to be confirmed later from (far better) photographs taken by Yogish.

A Slender-billed Scimitar Babbler (Pomatorhinus superciliaris) that gave good views at Eaglenest Pass, Arunachal Pradesh on the 25th April '13
The Slender-billed Scimitar Babbler was formerly the only member of the genus Xiphirhynchus, but now has been lumped with Pomatorhinus like the other Scimitar babblers. Pomatorhinus though seems to now be heading for a split !!

(delhibirdpix) Birding in Shillong.

Dear All, Today Taksh went off alone with one of the boys for birding in the usual area around . After spending about 5 hours there he came up with some amazing sightings. Specially the RED FACED LIOCICHLA ( A Poor but amazing record shot attached)

1.       LESSER  CUCKOO        30th may 2013

the Lesser  Cuckoo was brought to me by one of the boys who found it behind a flowerpot. Thinking that it was either hurt or sick , I asked to bring some water . To make it comfortable I let it sit on my hand . It looked at me curiously and its slender beak was beautiful. As I was appreciating its beauty it spread its wings and flew off. It was a real happy moment to see it fly off. Then was when I realised that not a single photo of it was with me. Though its well being was compensation enough.

2.       House  swift

3.       Large billed crow

4.       Yellow cheeked tit

5.       Green backed tit

6.       STREAK BREASTED SCIMATAR BABBLER

7.       SPOT BREASTED SCIMATAR BABBLER

8.       RED BILLEED LEIOTHRIX

9.       RUSTY CAPPED FULVETTA

10.   Whiskered yuhina

11.   LARGE NILTAVA

12.   Scaly breasted munia

13.   RED FACED LIOCHICLA

Sorry for crossing the limit.
