[BirdPhotoIndia] meanwhile, at the waterhole...2

Blanford's Snowfinch - juvenile & adult

There was this roadside miniature water tank with smoothly plastered slopes. So many juveniles of all birds would fly in for a drink, walk up to the edge to attempt to slide down to the water and then withdraw last minute. Then after circling around the tank a number of times, they would fly away without a drink.
For this Snowfinch juvenile, luckily, a parent also arrived & hopped down to the edge of the water. Junior then gathered courage to slither down and finally have his drink.

[BirdPhotoIndia] Re: [OBPix] Baby's Day Out 2 (Hume's Groundpecker)

Thanks, Navjit. That will be some addition to my knowledge.
All marmot holes I saw during the visit (my first to Ladakh) were 'down' into the ground. This particular hole was a sidewise entry into a small ( & what looked like a standalone) mound. But then again, I may not have carefully observed. Also it got dark soon and also we did not want to hang around a nest site for obvious reasons.
Here is the uncropped image of the hole.
Posting to the groups for general interest.
cheers
