It has been a delightful birding experience at Abdelpur. I and my ever enthusiastic colleague, Sumit, have been to Abdelpur at 7:30 A.M, yesterday. As a starter we got a glimpse of two Chestnut Tailed Starling, sitting on a high tension wire. Even though I forgot to carry my Binoculars, nature didn't refuse to unveil her treasure trove.
Suddenly one Common Hoopoe, an otherwise non arboreal bird, perched on an on an electric wire momentarily. Sumit captured it twice before it disappeared. Once it was in abundance near the cultivating land.
As far as I remember I encountered this creature after a long gap, at least in my vicinity. Watching this crested creature gave me enough amount of enthusiasm to venture for bird, for the next two hour.
Open Billed Stork is another feathered creature which suffers survival crisis to a great extent due to poaching and habitat destruction. Today a group of four birds, which gave us some respite, were seen.
We were unable to capture Lesser Flame Back, Brain Fever Bird, and Paddy Field Pipit etc. Last but not the least, we captured singleton Long Tailed Shrike, perched on a high tension wire.
Forum members are requested to forgive us the poor picture quality as we used an SZCC (Nikon P 80).
Happy Birding.
