(delhibirdpix) Alibag: White-bellied Sea Eagle

Went to famous Alibag drawn there by the riveting pictures posted everyday by Dr. Vaibhav Deshmukh and hope of ticking off the Great Knot. Despite a busy schedule he was gracious enough to drive me to Akshi Beach early in the morning where we looked in futility for the Great Knot. Alas it was not to be. But having reached there at low tide the waders were simply great - Terek Sandpipers, Lesser-Greater Sand, Kentish & Grey Plovers. A large flock of Common, lesser crested and sandwich terns; caspian, black-headed, brown-headed, slender-billed (2 only), pallas's gulls and  all the other usual waders.

Got this white-bellied Sea-Eagle come and perch about 100 meters from me and couldn't believe my luck. Was very daring and allowed me to approach very close to my amazement.

Enjoy
