Hi,
Yet another image of a possible Large Hawk Cuckoo shot at CKBS, Kolkata on last Sunday (11th April). Same bird as the one posted earlier by Abishek Das and myself.
I have no expertise on this matter, but after going through all the images on the internet, the tail definitely looks like that of a Large Hawk Cuckoo to me. Interestingly, and possibly without any significance, the images at OBC for juvenile Large Hawk Cuckoo don't show much vertical streaking on throat and breast (they are mostly horizontal), whereas those for Common Hawk Cuckoo have vertical streaks.
Although Large Hawk Cuckoo has been recorded in Kolkata in passage, the reports are somewhat rare. Any ID clarification will be highly appreciated.
Tired of my usual mugshots, well wishers encouraged me to turn off the flash occasionally and push the ISO high up. This one was taken with ISO 800 (that's as far as I dare to go on my 40D).

Cheers,
Arka S
