Pirotan Island (off the Jamnagar coast) during high tide is pure magic. As the tide rises, the birds keep marching towards the few sand bars that stay un-submerged. Taking strategic (and very wet) positions at the start of the tide can provide very close encounters with huge flocks. After some time, you just keep pressing the camera shutter -- no need to look through the view finder!! The sound of these massive flocks roaring inches above you is phenomenon that needs to be experienced.
