Acclimatizing your eyes for birding in North-east (Indian) forests takes some time, leave alone photographing them. Most species are either skulkers or rapidly darting about in the dense vegetation. Though the diversity is in plenty, bird-watching or photographing is extremely hard….the response time has to be very very quick. You have to experience this to believe it. But the places here are fantastic and the experience is mind-blowing and simply magical.....

Ones amongst these are the fulvetta's, before you react, they are gone….it is frustrating to focus them amongst the dense undergrowth. The Yellow-throated Fulvetta is a tiny bird, more related to phylloscopus warbler in appearance and behaviour than to the true fulvettas. They are usually encountered in mixed hunting parties that continuously keep moving, however the splash of bright yellow on their throat and supercillium catches your eye.

Hats off to those photographers (Sumit Sen, Ramki, Rajneesh, Sachin Rai, Sujan, Dhritiman, Clement.....) who have been capturing such challenging gems of North-east so magnificently to give us a glimpse of that amazing world. I would like to dedicate this image to them .... they have always been a Great Inspiration.
