[BirdPhotoIndia] Greater Flameback, Behaviour - 2

It is known that the nictitating membrane of a woodpecker closes just before its bill makes contact with the wood, so that the eye is protected from flying particles. Here are a couple of record shots of a Greater Flameback showing this.
