Notes:

Rufous-gorgeted Flycatcher is another member from the Muscicapidae family that has extensive distribution throughout the Himalayan foothills. …..

Birds offer so many different colour shades in their plumage that for a layman a colour could be just brown, but for a birder the same colour could be either rufous or buffish or tawny or brown or fulvous…I always wondered about these various shades of colours (rufous, buff, tawny, azure, cardinal, fulvous, ferruginous, Citrine etc) used in the common names of birds and their meaning. Through some reading and persuasion, I am beginning to know the meanings of these words, which are extremely useful to understand the birds better.

BTW:
Rufous is described as reddish-brown or brownish-red, as of rust or oxidized iron. The first recorded use of rufous as a colour name in English was in the year 1782, which was derived from "rubr-" in Latin and is used as an adjective in the names of many animals, especially birds, to describe the colour of their skin, fur or plumage. Visit this site http://phrontistery.info/colours.html if you are interested to know meanings of some names used to describe colours in Birds :-)
