[BirdPhotoIndia] Colours

Rajasthan forests, as we know them are typical of what is technically called Anogeissus pendula subtype of tropical Dry deciduous forests. Ranthambhor is a prime example. In summer, each and every Anogeissus tree is totally bare and the ground is littered with dry leaves. A purplish brown cast is typical.

On the morning of 4th June 2010, when we entered the Park, twice did we stop amidst such a drab backdrop, our attention drawn to flashes of colours. In this instant, it was Black Rumped Flame Back Woodpecker (?). Actually there were three of them. Not the best of images, but the colours do add to the mood.
