(delhibirdpix) Rantambhor 22-23 Jun,10-3

Bee Eater Blue Tailed-Merops philippinus

Visited a number of Tiger sanctuaries in the last 45 year but never did I ever see a Tiger. The best I had seen of the wild cats was the leopard way back in 1966 at Madumalai. Every visit to a sanctuary we saw the famous pug marks and the remarkable poo-the tiger just passed this way-that was the best we saw. Then a visit with family to Ranthambhor in Dec 09 we managed to get see one with a Kill, only the head was seen but the first sight of the tiger out side the Zoo was something to talk about. A second trip in the evening was better and we rolled while the tiger walked just a few feet ahead of us. He did not even look at us.

Then a visit again in May 10. The place was burning with temp around 50 with Koshy, Anand and self braving the heat to watch the tiger and birds. Three good sightings of the Tiger was very satisfying during the trip.

The guide Salim did show us a number of birds and some of the images taken during the trip.
I have not seen so many Crested Buntings together.
