this raptor was also photographed at sector 55 Gurgaon but the pic was taken in late evening in a dim light and my 300mm lens was of no use so the quality of pic is very bad. the bird was of the size of a buzzard/common kite and had white broad head and was being mauled by a party of crows

there is a sad thing about the Photo, its the last one I could take for this bird. I had been observing a pair of owls in this region from about 2years, but the latest hordes of construction activities started in the area lead to sifting of the owls to some other place (which I have not been able to trace). the area near the police post on the gurgaon mehrauli road is under a huge construction sweep suddenly, thrashers in action, the whole area has been cleared of all the trees and the area near the village temple where this bird was photographed is cleared into a plot now. this same area just month back was like a village groove which served a happy birding place for around 40 species of birds including red avadavats, painted sandgrouse, grey and black partridge, Black shouldered kite, sirkeer malkhola, pied cuckoo, stone curlew, plum headed parakeet, spotted owlets, and many more. is there any way such areas can be saved from ravage of land mongers who find them as treasure trove for land is very precious in Delhi and NCR.
