(delhibirdpix) Golden Orioles

Dear Friends these two pictures of  Golden Oriole Chicks are NOT taken in the nest. But during my field observations on this species   of bird. which is completing 4th year in 2010.
Well ! I have seen that chicks leave the nest the moment they are able to use their flight muscles not for FLIGHT but just to support their pedal movements on the tree. They try to perch in the thick canopy of the tree near their nests and in doing so they fall down . Parents keep feeding them on the ground also but survival chances reduce because of predation although Drongos nesting on the same tree or near by trees is always of help. Last year 2 pairs nested twice in one of the selected areas BUT UNFORTUNATELY  Lack of DRONGO NESTS near by proved fatal for both the time for Chicks. Same work is being conducted by Anand Arya also who has published it in SHRISTHI.
Will share more once I am satisfied.
Regards
SP
