Hi All,
A Brown Wood Owl from the archives, shot on 01Oct2005, 6:20pm. This was approximately 40 Kms before Kedarnath (Uttarakhand).
In the fast disappearing evening light, driving by the river Mandakini, I was trying to reach Ookhimath, when I noticed a disturbance above me in a forest tree. I halted by the roadside, switched off the lights, grabbed the camera and moved out of the car. As I struggled to focus my camera, it gave me Owlish looks (what else) while remaining perched on the branch, unlike other jungle Owls, which fly off immediately on seeing humans. I could, however, manage only this shot as it flew to the trees higher up.
Apologies for a grainy shot. Disappointingly, on my later forays, this bird was never seen/photographed again.
Ciao,
Devashish
