[BirdPhotoIndia] Fwd: Male Ashy-crowned Sparrow Lark with Deformed/?Amputated Leg

Common Name: Ashy-crowned Sparrow Lark

Species name: Eremopterix griseus

Location: Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh

Date taken: 22.08.2010

Equipment: Nikon D90 + Nikkor 70-300 AF VR Zoom

Special Remarks:
This is my second sighting of a deformed male ashy-crowned sparrow lark. As is quite evident, its right leg is just a stump and the right foot cannot be seen. I wondered if this might have been due to accidental amputation; but on closer look, even the left foot does not look normal to me. Additionally, the right leg shows some horny outgrowths near the knee joint area.
Previously, I had photographed and posted another male ACSL with an abnormally long mandible.
If the present bird is also deformed, then isnt it curious and a cause for concern to have sighted two deformed birds of the same species within 5-6km radius within a span of less than 6 months?
Request to Experts for their comments and further guidance.

Regards,
Dr. Shrutidev Mishra,
Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh.
