[BirdPhotoIndia] Intermediate Egret, Chick

Common Name: Intermediate Egret
 
Species Name: Mesophoyx intermedia
 
Location: Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh; in my hospital campus
 
Date taken: 18.09.2010
 
Equipment: Nikon D90 + Nikkor 70-3oo AF VR Zoom Lens

 
Special Remarks: The Intermediate Egret chick at 40 days is well feathered, but shows a crest of filoplumes protruding through the head contour feathers. The bill colour varies from all yellow, to black-tipped yellow to variegated black-and-yellow, and occasionally all-black.
