Hi,
I took the images of this Scaly-breasted Munia in 2008 at Santiniketan but since the image quality was not good I refrained myself from posting it earlier. This Aug when I took this image of a Baya at Santiniketan, I noticed a surprising thing. The Munia was choosing and snapping the leaf strands very meticulously and was carrying only one strand at a time where as the Baya being a better architect, needed much more raw material at one go. Whenever the busy builder Bayas were coming down from a nearby Palm tree, they were collecting a bunch of leaves/reeds at a time and it was quite surprising how these tiny birds were carrying them to their high nests even against strong monsoon wind!
Thanks!
Maitreyee
