(delhibirdpix) The Commoners - # 134.02 - Black-Crowned Night Heron (Nycticorax nycticorax) - 2010-222

This season this species is everywhere and very good numbers.

This one looks like still assuming its full adult plumage. Taken on
2nd September at Sultanpur National Park, Gurgaon, Haryana, India
after its opened after a bit over two months of 'closure for
maintenance' which was a sham as 'No Maintenance' except to tile the
parking area and the toilet block has been undertaken.

It was dangerous to walk on the path as it was full of mud and grass.
One of the Watch Towers on the western side continues to be broken and
the other one had no approach to it and the stairs too were covered
with all the thorny bushes cut and thrown there. Visitors please take
images of 'lack of maintenance' and share these with me so I can
initiate yet another fight to save a birding area.

May dereliction of duty, incompetence and corruption flourish ! I am
still going to bird around looking at the beautiful creatures and a
delight to watch like this one.

Cheers.
