would it to the loss of habitat, which has been marked for permanent
change but the change is delayed by the fine rains this gone monsoon.
Even a small lake (ten acre or four hectares), belonging to the
village Panchayat (Village Council) has been taken over by the
builders who have now christened it as lake Olympus. Till the colony
comes up, this lake was given on contract for raising of fish. The
rains flooded the lake and the area surrounding it and all the fish is
now available all over the wetlands - a heaven for Kingfishers,
particularly Pied and Common who have not yet learnt/adapted to live
on other 'prey' unlike the White-throated.
Here is one Pied Kingfisher - there is one full family, a Male, a
Female and two Young ones. The young catching not one but two fish and
the Dad looks on.
It was great to see the whole family on several visits.
Cheers.
