A Greater Painted-snipe (
Rostratula benghalensis), female foraging in the late evening. The females unlike most bird species is far more attractive than the make male and polyandrous. Not sure though which is the cause and which is the result. The result is that the male ends up rearing the chicks, who look just as drab as him. Despite their name they are not actually snipes.
