(delhibirdpix) The Commoners - # 142 - Coppersmith Barbet - 2011-062

Greetings on the Festival of Colors - The Holi - celebrated yesterday.
Here is one of the most colorful, if not the most, birds.

Learnt something a bit more on bird behaviour watching this bird on 11th.
Like we throw a child in to the water while teaching it to swim, this youngster was flung out of the nest.
The Mom (or Dad) had been feeding it for almost 40-45 minutes that I spent watching it but then the Mom (or Dad) got really tired that this was not coming out of the nest.  The parent then caught it by the beak and just pulled it out of the nest and flung it in to the air.  Lo and Behold, this was then flying all over.

Am surprised, I have shared an image of this bird for more than two years when it is so common.

Cheers.
