Hi,
Since early morning the sky was overcast and the snow peaks were not visible.Though we had wonderful sightings of Monal for a long time, when we reached above 10,500' at Tungnath, suddenly the sky started to look more ominous and we started to descend as quickly as possible .Strong, cold winds started to blow and a huge cloud, looking like a grey, torn shawl with loose threads hanging over the valley, approached us from the North-West. It brought rain and snowfall with it but it also brought these two raptors towards us. They must have taken advantage of the wind direction.
Record shots of a Himalayan Griffon (juv) and a Lammergeier taken at Tungnath (nearly at 11000') , Uttarakhand,India on 10th April,2011.
Regards,
Maitreyee
