[BirdPhotoIndia] Spotted Creeper | Tal Chhapar | April 2011

Dear all:

An amazing and mysterious bird of NW and Central India (and Africa) and its recent sightings have completely dried dried up. For the last couple of years, the bird has been regularly observed by Mr. SS Poonia (the legendary forest officer in Tal Chhapar) in the beautiful arid Kejri (prosopis cineraria) forests near Chhapar. I was there this weekend and managed a few images of the bird as well as some of the other specialities of Tal Chhapar.

The bird behaves more like a nuthatch than a tree-creeper making it a tough object to follow unless it makes one of those momentary stops to introspect!

The image is hosted online here: http://goo.gl/Abxhd

Equipment:  Canon-EOS 1D Mark IV  800mm + 1,4x   Date: Apr 25, 2011

Cheers,
