(delhibirdpix) The Birds of a Terrace - # 02

When one has the perfect weather for birding but is unable to get out, then the best option is to have the birds come to you. This is what I had been doing.

Long ago, I had counted 55 bird species that I had seen, over a period of time, from and around my house without making any efforts.

Some of the recent ones - most are active due their breeding season and calling - seen over last few days are:

1. Yellow-footed Green Pigeon
2. Blue Rock Pigeon (including a young one and last month one that was turning while)
3. Brown Headed Barbet, calling morning evening and chasing each other. Surely these must be breeding.
4. Coppersmith Barbet, calls and disappears as I go out.
5. Ashy Prinia - possibly making a nest in the thicket of bushes in the plot adjoining and lying vacant.
6. Common Tailor Bird, calling and chasing like no body's business.
7. Purple Sunbird, not calling so much now and must have got in to breeding business by now.
8. Red-Whiskered Bulbul
9. Red-vented Bulbul
10. Koel, calling loud.
11. Rose-ringed Parakeet, have made a habit of making loud noise unless the feed is put out.
12. White-throated Kingfisher
13. House Sparrows, calling all through the day
14. Brown Rock-chat, chasing each other.
15. Common Hoopoe
16. Shikra
17. Black Kite
18. Common Myna
19. Jungle Babbler.
20. Large-Grey Babbler
21. Indian Silverbill - am waiting for Red and Black-headed Munia to turn up.
22. Oriental White-Eye
23. Brahminy Myna
24. Pied Starling
25. Laughing Dove
26. Eurasian Collared Dove
27. Red-Wattled Lapwing
28. Indian Robin
29. Magpie Robin

The owls that I used to see are now missing.

Cheers.
