This was shot today morning (17 April 2011) in the MIT Campus, Manipal (Karnataka, India).
I have never seen one and only read about the immature male Loten's Sunbird and it's resemblance to the Purple Sunbird eclipse male (and it's strikingly similar). I reckon that is what this bird is, and only on the basis of the bill length (which was easy to compare with a singing adult right next to it on the same tree).
I cannot find any pic of the same on OBI, so would like a confirmation on ID.
