Hello,
It was the last day of our trip and so we started very early from our camp to try our luck but again the sky was overcast and light drizzle started since morning. The road to Mukku Bend passed close to a high rocky wall and we knew that we had a fair chance of seeing Common Kestrels there. So everyday our eyes automatically started to scan the rock surface whenever we crossed that area but we did not see them except one day when a kestrel was chasing the Red-rumped Swallows near that place. So, when on the last day, our bird guide,Mr. J.Negi suddenly shouted after spotting one and our car started to roll back, we got very excited but after getting down he could not find it ! We walked few metres down the road and searched for the missing bird. Suddenly I could see it on a tree looking at us turning its head but Mr. Negi was not totally satisfied. Though he had just a glimpse of it, something was bothering him. So we exchanged our thoughts and started to search further and oh my god, there was another one near the rocky wall! We could not believe our luck. Ultimately we were having both of them, a male and a female!
Here are a few poor shots of them as the light condition was terrible! Kindly excuse me.
Shot on our way to Mukku Bend,Uttarakhand,India on 12th April'11 .
Thanks,
Maitreyee
