Hi
visited CKBS today afternoon (at 1pm)...with the sole purpose of photographing the elusive Slaty-legged Crakes. that have been photographed by two lucky birders last Friday. This species unlike many of its wetland-cousins prefer to inhabit the densely forested areas and thickets...and forage on the forest floor.
These shy birds are known to come near the small pool in late afternoon in CKBS, when most of the birds have finished their bathing session. So anticipation was high....I waited near the office for 2 hours in vain...many birds were coming to bathe in the small pool , but unfortunately the Crakes didnt turn up. This bird is high on my wishlist...seen it only a few times darting through dense thickets...but never got a shot. Birds are really unpredictable...
better luck next time : )
sharing two shots of Purple sunbirds...spotted today in CKBS.
regards
Shantanu...
