(delhibirdpix) Birds from Manali

Manali presented a wide range of habitats that turned out to be quite a challenge.
The Asian Barred Owlet was seen in Van Vihar, a forest area in the heart of Manali....quite like the Sanjay Van of Delhi but on a much larger scale. Giant trees reached for the sky all around and a variety of bird calls floated down from the canopy but unfortunately I couldn't ID them. The Owlet was perched on a broadleaved tree and was calling loudly.

On the other hand, the woodlands around Old Manali presented shorter trees and more undergrowth, that were home to both Rufous Naped Tits and White Throated Fantails, even though the altitude was 2100 meters. Grey Bushchats were commonly seen perched on wires and bushes.
