Helmets provide protection. "I agree," says Papa Indian Robin as he emerges after feeding the chicks a worm. My old helmet has been taken by this pair of Indian Robins to be used as a nest.
A few years ago I saw that if I left my helmet on the scooter seat for long periods robins would start putting material for nest building inside it. I would feel sad at all the energy wasted when I would remove my helmet. So this time I could make amends by letting them have their nest.
