Hi
The Monsoon months are surely not a good time for birding, as it rains most of the time and its difficult to get decent shots of the birds in poor light.
But still I visited CKBS bird sanctuary- Kolkata today morning anticipating to get some monsoon visitors in the sanctuary. Paradise flycatchers are known to arrive at this time of the year, and I spotted a pair of these birds a month ago.
There was a constant drizzle from the morning. At times, the Sun could be seen through the dark clouds, and weather became clear, but soon the sky was overcast.
I searched for the paradise flycatchers in vain....neither they were seen nor heard.
Plaintive Cuckoos and Hawk Cuckoos (pic posted later) were very vocal, and competed with each other. ..although the former was not seen...
An Orange-headed Ground thrush was looking for insects in the wet leaf-litter on one of the paths. It caught an earthworm and flew away into the thickets. Sharing two shots of the bird.
regards
Shantanu. : )
