For the past few weeks, many people noticed that a mobile telephone tower
is made a roosting place by a flock of Black Ibis just in the middle of Jalpaiguri
town. The tower is located atop a hotel at Kadamtala More- one of the busiest
places at Jalpaiguri. The flock of Ibis (I counted up to 13 nos in one evening) come
in the evening and depart early in the morning.Their shrill call often drowns the
sounds of passing traffic and attracts the attention of all the people around.

The ibises have a permanent residence on a rain tree a few hundred meters
away for some years, but their choice of a mobile tower as a roosting
place - that too in a congested place- is new to me.
Photographed today.
