[BirdPhotoIndia] Jungle Babbler - story and pictures

4th September, Bali Islands, Sundarbans.

On this morning I noticed a pair of Jungle Babbler foraging around the dining hall of a tourist resort.  Suddenly I found a chick calling from under the dining table. I sat down. When the chick saw me it turned its neck backwards and hid its head inside the wing (see picture 2). After a few seconds it went back to normal position and then realized that more people were watching it. It did the same thing again and went back to previous posture - with the head hidden. It looked like a fathered ball. It appeared that it was doing this intentionally to confuse potential predators.

Cheers,

Apurba
