(delhibirdpix) The Drongo that created confusion- CKBS

Hi
visited CKBS- near Kolkata today morning with birder friend Soma Jha....to spot the passage migrants and also to search for the Drongo that created confusion, when the pic of the bird was posted by Soma-di two weeks back.
Few birders identified the bird as Bronzed Drongo..while some others suggested that it could be the rarely seen Crow-billed Drongo.
As a consequence, the ID of the bird remained inconclusive.

Fortunately we got the bird today again, and managed to take few close shots.
After observing the features of the bird from the shots, it became clear that the bird is actually an immature Spangled Drongo (Hair-crested Drongo to be more precise- D.hottentotus).
The diagnostic upturned tail feathers quite distinct in adult birds...have not yet developed in this individual.

Black-naped Orioles were more heard than seen. They preferred to stay in the high canopy. The recently reported sparse-passage migrant Large-billed Leaf warbler also didnt turn up.
But the other common birds were quite active today, and some of them gave good photo opportunity.
