visited the Rajarhat marshes today morning with birder friend Mr.Debarshi Chakraborty anticipating to get the Kestrel that has been spotted by few Kolkata birders last month. Although the Kestrel didnt turn up...we got decent snaps of many marsh birds including two unidentified raptors in flight, that I would post very soon.
Sharing shots of Scaly-breasted Munias that were busy foraging on the metalled road..
A male Siberian Stonechat- an extremely shy bird that never allowed us to approach closer to it.
Ashy-crowned Finch Larks were abundant in the drier areas.
regards
Shantanu.

Can u be specific, where the exact location of the birding spot is?
It will also be helpful if u suggest some other places to spot birds near Kolkata other than narendrapur and bashipota.
