[BirdPhotoIndia] A Baikal Teal

Hi,
It was beyond my expectation when at last, I could set my eyes on a beautiful Baikal Teal behind a tightly packed flock of Lesser Whistling Ducks sitting on a distant island in the Santragachhi Lake ( near Kolkata,India) yesterday (20.1.12). Since it was a very foggy morning with overcast sky, it seemed photography was not at all possible but after an hour or so, the weather brightened up a little bit and I could manage some record shots of this rare beauty.
It seemed the Baikal Teal was in no mood to get down in the cold water of the lake but due to persistent poking from a Little Cormorant , ultimately it had no other options left. After a while, it chose a Northern Pintail couple and  seemed to get very much attached to them. It looked very funny when this little teal was following each and every move of the male N.Pintail in the 'Follow-Thy-Leader' manner for quite some time.
The bird was quite at a distance and so all the images are record shots only.
Best regards,
Maitreyee
