[BirdPhotoIndia] Jerdon's Babbler, Dibru-Saikhowa NP (Assam)

What started off as an overcast morning with a light drizzle turned into a full-fledged downpour as we crossed the Brahmaputra to get to Dibru-Saikhowa. We got off the boat at Kundaghat, drenched despite the rain protection, and took shelter at the forest outpost, where a very welcome fire was lit for us to warm up and wait out the rain. The deluge continued for an hour and a half, and we watched Oriental Pied Hornbills, and Yellow-footed Green Pigeons perched on the trees around. As soon as the intensity of rain reduced, our intrepid guide led us through the slush towards Balijaan, where Jerdon's Bushchat and Marsh Babbler were likely. As we were enroute, the rain stopped completely, and we were rewarded with some excellent sightings, the first of which was this Jerdon's Babbler calling out. Dibru-Saikhowa NP, 20 Dec 2012.

Cheers,
Garima
