(delhibirdpix) Malabar Whistling Thrush - tail fanning

In Someshwara WLS, Karnataka (India) on 26 January 2013.

Presumably displaying since it bowed down and fanned its tail every 5 seconds on an open perch while giving out its plaintive single noted whistle. Wasn't concerned about feeding, but aggressively chased away Orange-headed Thrushes and some Ashy Drongos who would come nearby.

I have seen these birds fan their tails before - probably when alert or curious? - but never so often and regularly.
