Long-billed Dowitcher (Limnodromus scolopaceus)
Vagrant
3rd March, 2013 at Sultanpur National Park, Haryana
Remarks : This dowitcher which has caused quite a sensation in the Delhibirders was initially thought to be Asian Dowitcher but was later identified as Long-billed Dowitcher, a rare vagrant to the country and especially to North India.
This individual was feeding snipe like, by deep probing, amidst a flock of Greenshanks, Ruffs and Redshanks. Didn't display any bobbing action like Sandpipers which were foraging alongside as well.
