(delhibirdpix) Fire-tailed Myzornis, Male, Back pattern. Sorry for the Attachment

Species: Fire-tailed Myzornis – Myzornis pyrrboura – Male

Date: 5th April 2013

Location: Singalila National Park, West Bengal.

Habitat: Rhododendron and shrubs.

Status: Least Concern

Remarks: After a dull day at Sandakphu we deemed it prudent to descend to lower altitudes. Witnessing the fury of lashing winds and wrath of dark dense fog at the apex, minimal bird activity, the depressing sight of the 'Maling Bamboo' forest below on the trail to Gurdum, that once boasted of its splendor and the Parrotbills, now stood in death. The Blood Pheasants were elsewhere.

However at Kalapokhri the next morning time stood still. The vale was cast as such that a master was at pain to place in experiment, every aspect to perfection. The sun in glory, spread its golden light on the scented Magnolias, and accentuated shades of glossy white. The birds were busy devouring the divine nectar from the obliging Rhododendrons. Bees buzzed lazily mulling over the Daphne blooms. Clear skies threw a spectrum of various blues and the moon in prime dipped west over the emerald hill. A pair of Fire-tailed Myzornis flew down from the Rhododendron above and busied itself on a young shrub, exploring all it had to offer. The male displayed its vibrant colors and the tsi-tsi song, the pollen stricken female moved in tandem in an assuring bond. I recollected 'who was the fellow who on looking at something felt like somebody looking at something'. Poet Keats at school came back years later.
