(delhibirdpix) Indian Pond Heron Basai

Species: Indian Pond Heron (Ardeola grayii)

Location: Basai, Haryana

Date and Time: 6th June 2013 . 5:39 PM

Equipment: Nikkor 80-400 AF-S VR ED on Nikon D800

Comments: Though several individuals of the species in breeding plumage were noticed at Basai Wetlands, this was the only one with red legs. Other attractions were several Cattle Egrets in breeding plumage, a pair of Pied Cuckoos feeding on caterpillars in the Hyacinth and a large numbers of Streaked Weavers, Red Avadats and courting Blue-cheeked Bee-Eaters.
