I have planned to explore the outskirts of my city Kolkata in this summer vacation in search of the seldom-seen species of birds. Visited the wetlands of Joka today, and got few shots of the Yellow-bellied Prinia-- a bird i wanted to photograph for a long time. At first I was very disappointed as the bird never came out of the thick reeds...and the heat in those open areas was just unbearable. When we gave up all hopes of getting it, an individual started calling loudly perched atop a reed stem. Oh..what a pretty bird it is and certainly a Lifer for me. I took photos to my heart's content. Thanks to my birder friends for their support. Location: Joka wetlands. Date: 3rd June-2013. Canon 60D Sigma telelens.
