Hi all
Looks pretty much like a Russet Sparrow to me.
I am confused, however, regarding the sub-species, since the one I
clicked does not have yellow underparts.
The new Grimmett-Inskipp field guide does not differentiate
subs-species, but the older Krys guide does.
However, I am not clear if the Krys illustrations of the sub-species
a)cinnamomeus and b)intensior are actually supposed to be the other
way around. I mean, how come 'cinnamomeus' has white underparts?
And so, would my bird be Passer rutilans intensior or Passer rutilans
cinnamomeus (fresh plumage without the yellow showing up yet).
Looking for some help in this.
Regards
Amitava Misra
