[BirdPhotoIndia] Pied Thrush - prized catch from Point Calimere

Perhaps a first winter Male.

This bird was spotted in a small but dense acacia grove adjoining the BNHSBMSC. Sunlight barely reaches the ground in this patch. The bird was foraging in the dried leaf litter. It was using its long & wide beak to scoop up bunches of dried leaves and tossing them over his head in the air - some of the leaves falling as far away as 2 feet. Then it would pick out any insects it found below. The bird was also observed to avoid any patches where the sun-rays managed to reach the ground.

Did not find any image of this bird from any Indian location south of Bangalore-Karnataka.
