[BirdPhotoIndia] Spot-billed Pelicans of Kokrebellur

Passed through this village in Karnataka, which has nesting colonies of the bird on either side of a busy road. Saw at least 4 trees in immediate vicinity with over 50 pelicans on each. The villagers apparently have made promise to the Forest Deptt that they will not disturb the birds or cut-down the trees. There is reportedly a dam few kilometers away & the birds feed in the back-waters of that dam. There was a fairly good population of intermediate egrets also on neighbouring trees.
Nest building activity was in full swing and eucalyptus twigs seemed to be the most preferred material of construction.
