[BirdPhotoIndia] Great Bittern 04 (Dighal, Haryana)
Species : Great Bittern
-- Place : Dighal, Haryana, India
Date : 28 February 2014
Soon after Manoj Sharma ( and Gunjan) gave us the update that they had spotted two of these star birds, we decided to try our luck and reached the spot, accompanied by Sanjay and Rakesh. Ananda and Debasis were already there patiently waiting for the bird to come out of the reeds. After an hour or so, around 1.00 pm, it started pouring heavily and we were able to see the movement of the bird in the reed bed. We only got the glimpses of its "stand still" neck. When the rain subsided, the bird came out, preened itself, took off and landed some meters away, close to another bird. We could see both the birds, again only neck up. After sometime, one of them sort of leaped out and landed in front of us, giving an opportunity to click some shots.
We saw three birds in total in the area.

(delhibirdpix) Clamororous Reed Warbler
At Mangalajodi marshes, Odisha on 15th Feb 2014. The bird emerged from
the reeds and stood on the prow of our boat for a few seconds! This
was the best birding moment at Mangalajodi as it was so unexpected.

(delhibirdpix) Great Bittern
Hi Everyone,
-- This is my first ever post on this forum, on the insisitence of my friend Atul Jain.
We had this fortunate sighting of Great Bittern at Dighal wetland yesterday morning. The sighting was immediately celebrated by an impromptu victory dance by Atul Jain and little later by clinking the papercups filled with Egg-nog [ courtsey Ramgopal].
Amitava and Ramgopal have taken some very good pictures of the bird. I am sharing a record shot taken from my point and shoot cam.
