Spotted seven Greylag Geese in a pond on the way from Bardhaman to Katwa, (West Bengal) this morning (8th February, 2014) at around 11 am near a place called Karjana. The pond had many lesser whistling teals. I have crossed this pond several times in the last few years. Seen lesser whistling teals, cotton pygmy geese, northern pintails etc but never seen Greylag Geese. On the return journey at around 3 pm they were gone.
Interestingly, the pond is next to a busy state highway and surrounded by huts with lot of human activities throughout the day.
