Evert birder in town has been heading to Dhakuria lake to shoot the Slaty-backed Flycatcher. Abhishek Das' images are the best from the lot posted so far. Quite a pretty bird.

Today, Joyjit, Supriyo (Ghoshal), Sudip and I were at Dhakuria and with a bit of waiting, we spotted the little fellow. We also a similarly sized rather drab flycatcher. Some said it could be a Taiga (Was way too slim and seem to have a longer tail)- no eye ring that I could see. It had a call like the Taiga but a bit softer.

Could this be a female - Slaty-backed Flycatcher? or is it a female Taiga?

The breast did have some browns but not definitive to me.

Dhakuria lake, Kolkata, West Bengal, India
