(delhibirdpix) Red-vented Bulbul variant

The attached image was captured on Sunday, 09.02.2014 at Gadyar, on the Chakki Mor – Bhoj Nagar road in Solan Dist. of H.P.

At first I thought that it could possibly be a hybridization/cross between a Red-vented Bulbul and a Himalayan Bulbul.

However, I now understand that it’s a race/sub-species of the Red-vented Bulbul (Pycnonotus cafer), though I’m not sure which race/sub-species.

It does somewhat resemble the bengalensis  race/sub-species, which is found in the Himalayas from Nepal east to Assam.

Warm regards,

Cheers!
